Experiments

Welcome to Form Of The Week! Every week I will (try my best to) post a new form that I make out of different types of material. The point of this page is purely to meditate on how material can transcend what we expect of it and become something completely new (and hopefully interesting.)

BRAZILIAN WALNUT + RENSHAPE

I find that there is (sometimes) an inherent beauty when juxtaposing two starkly different materials. Renshape is a brand of high-density modeling foam used largely in the automotive and product design industry. It is very easy to model with and has no grain structure. Walnut is something that belongs to the craftsman. It is a material that humans have toiled with to create masterpieces. One of these materials will wear in with time, and the other will wear out.
